Synplicity Supplies Key Technology to Axis Systems

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 2002--Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced that Axis Systems' Xtreme-II verification system leverages key software technology from Synplicity to help reduce verification times for today's most complex system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs. The software, based on Synplicity's core technology, delivers extremely fast compile times and offers mapping technology designed to deliver high quality of results for the Xilinx Virtex-II Platform FPGAs in the Axis verification system. Axis will provide this software to customers within its Xtreme-II verification system, which enables chip designers to simultaneously simulate, accelerate and emulate their designs.

"We found that the custom software Synplicity developed is a natural match for Xtreme-II," said Axis' vice president of products, Keith Howard. "Synplicity's core technology enables extremely high capacity, delivers fast runtimes and provides excellent quality of results. By combining our own leading-edge technology with best-in-class solutions from companies like Synplicity and Xilinx, the Xtreme-II system enables our customers to thoroughly verify their SoC designs and significantly shorten their time to market."

"Axis shares our goal of improving designer productivity and reducing unnecessary barriers to design success," said Gary Meyers, vice president of worldwide sales at Synplicity. "The core technology found in our verification and synthesis products was designed to deliver fast runtimes and excellent results and we are pleased to be able to extend our technology into the realm of emulation and simulation. We believe implementing our customized software into the Axis Xtreme-II flow will enable customers to address the challenges of large, complex designs more easily and achieve excellent results."

The Xtreme-II verification system from Axis verifies designs up to 100 million gates. Xtreme-II contains more than two gigabytes of memory so designers can load their most demanding memory-intensive applications.
